| Chelsea 11:17 was a
very casual
theatrical group at Carleton College for about ten years. Every
Friday
the participants convened at Nourse Little Theater. Those who had
written scripts for the week brought them; brief descriptions of the
parts
were read to the audience by the facilitators, known as Chelsea Elves,
and distributed arbitrarily to volunteers. The scripts were then
performed without memorization or rehearsal.
Chelsea was blessed with many different traditions over the years. It began as a forum for theater students who wanted to air their ideas without going to all the trouble of directing a play, and evolved in time along with its constituency. It ended due to dwindling participation during the 2002-03 school year, the year after I graduated. Rest in peace, Chelsea 11:17. Although I was never an Elf,
I was one of the most active participants during my junior and senior
years. I wrote a total of 42 scripts, reproduced below
in chronological order. (Scripts are added gradually as I feel like
it.) |
